Thriving Forward Youth Programme is a work placement and training programme for 16–30 year olds. Designed to help young people grow, flourish, and thrive, it offers hands-on experience at Lucy’s Pantry, practical skills development, and mentoring opportunities. 

Participants gain workplace skills, confidence, and community engagement experience, preparing them for future careers while making a positive impact in their community.

Overview

  • Duration: 6 weeks

  • Time Commitment: 12 hours per week

  • Days: Flexible to fit your schedule

  • Additional Support: Travel and lunch provided

  • Gain Level 2 Food Safety Certificate

 

Cohorts:

  • Cohort 1: Starts 15/09/2025

  • Cohort 2: Starts 27/10/2025

  • Flexible Start Date (Before the 27/10/25)

Join Thriving Forward to develop skills, explore new opportunities, and thrive in your personal and professional journey.

About the Programme

Towards Thriving Forward is a youth programme designed to help young people grow, flourish, and thrive. It supports young people and care leavers aged 16–30 as they build confidence, develop practical skills, and create a strong foundation for their futures.

Participants take part in a safe and nurturing space where they can grow through meaningful work experiences, mentorship, and personal development opportunities over a structured period of 6 weeks.

Programme Aims:

  • Empower young people and care leavers to gain new skills and experience.

  • Build resilience, self-confidence, and leadership abilities.

  • Foster a sense of belonging and connection within the community.

  • Support positive transitions into education, training, or employment.

  • Programme Details

    Duration: 6 weeks, providing consistent support and opportunities for growth.

    Core Activities:

    • Placement shifts at Lucy’s Pantry and community events.

    • One-on-one and group mentoring sessions with experienced volunteers and staff.

    • Skills workshops covering communication, teamwork, customer service, community building, and personal development.

    • Opportunities to co-design community projects or lead initiatives.

    • Social activities and peer support to build friendships and networks.

    • Access to wellbeing support and guidance throughout the programme.
       

    Additional Support:

    • Travel provided to and from programme activities.

    • Lunch and refreshments are provided during programme sessions.
       

    Qualifications & Certifications:

    • Food Hygiene and Safety Certification (Level 2)

    • Manual Handling Training (optional)
       

    These certifications enhance skills, employability, and further education prospects.
     
    Support Offered:

    • Dedicated mentors for guidance and encouragement.

    • Assistance with CV building and interview preparation.

    • Access to additional training or workshops tailored to individual goals.

    • A supportive, inclusive environment celebrating diversity and growth.
       

    Expected Outcomes:

    • Increased confidence, resilience, and independence.

    • Enhanced employability with recognised qualifications and practical experience.

    • Stronger community connections and a sense of belonging.

    • Improved leadership and teamwork skills.

    • Clearer pathways into education, training, or employment.

    • Young people and care leavers aged 16–30.

    • Those who have been out of education, training, or employment for six months or more.

    • Individuals facing barriers such as homelessness, social isolation, mental health challenges, or lack of support networks.

    • Young people interested in gaining practical skills and volunteering experience.

    • Applicants must commit to attending regular sessions and participating actively (minimum of 12 hours/week).

    • Open to self-referrals or referrals from support organisations or local authorities.

    • Apply via the simple online application form or through a referral from a support worker or organisation.

    • Informal interviews or welcome sessions will help ensure the programme is the right fit.

    • Ongoing support is available throughout and after the programme.
